Goan Appetit set out to uncover the traditional sweets and unique festivities of Sao Joao in North Goa's Aldona

In this episode of Goan Appetit, we did something different in the village of Aldona, North Goa. We spent an entire day with a family from Naikawado, learning about what they prepare and how they celebrate the festival of Sao Joao.

We learned to make traditional sweets like patoleos, pudde, and shevoyo. These rice-based sweets, stuffed or mixed with coconut and jaggery, gave us a taste of Goa's wonderful cuisine. We also gorged on seasonal fruits like jackfruit, pineapple, watermelon, and mango.

Being one of the most quaint villages of Goa, Aldona has its unique Sao Joao traditions, which we got to witness.
