In Kumbarwada, a small neighborhood within the village of Mayem, Bicholim, you can find several traditional potters hard at work, sculpting Ganesh idols for the upcoming festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.

This is a time-honored tradition in Mayem, and the potters take great pride in their work. They use only the finest clay and natural pigments, and they hand-sculpt each idol with care and attention to detail.

In this episode of “A Day In The Life Of A Goan….” We feature Rupesh Shet, who has been carrying forward this tradition. Rupesh believes that this is the way by which he can stay connected to the culture and community.
