Sporting Clube de Goa recorded its first victory in the ongoing Hero Futsal Club Championship in New Delhi on Sunday. They defeated the Pondicherry based Kuppuraj FC 3-2. With his victiory, Sporting Goa is second in Group B behind Bengaluru FC with three points.

The match started slowly as the first half was a goalless affair. Both teams created many chances but could finish none.

However, the second half was full of excitement as Kuppuraj FC’s Rajaganapathy ended the deadlock and scored the first goal of the match. Soon the Flaming Orange retaliated as Lloyd Cardozo and Rohit Shankar Totad scored in the 22nd and 23rd minutes respectively. Kuppuraj fought back but couldn’t penetrate the Sporting defence.

In the 38th minute, Lloyd Cardozo scored his second goal in the 38th minute to double the Sporting lead. Austin Jijo scored a consolation goal in the penultimate minute as Kuppuraj FC lost 3-2.

After losing their second match, Kuppuraj FC has now crashed out of the tournament.
