In the last five years, Goa has hosted national and international sporting events and attracted professional athletes and tourists, further boosting the state's profile as a sports tourism destination.
The WTT Star Contender Goa (table tennis), Ironman 70.3 Goa (held annually), Volleyball and World Beach Pro Tour Goa Challenge (volleyball) are some of the international events Goa has hosted attracting foreign athletes and at the same time contributing to the State's tourism.
Besides these events, Goa has been attracting athletes from across the country and abroad to take part in some of the annual marathons for which it is slowly gaining popularity. The SKF Goa River Marathon held annually in December, which is well-known, is one of them.
And now with the monsoon season in full flow, it's time for the Rotary Rain Run Goa 2024, registrations for which have begun, and will close on July 20. The run will be held on July 28, 2024.
The run-for-a-cause event, which celebrates its 10th edition this year, continues its tradition of promoting healthy practices and supporting Women’s Health and Education, with a focus on free cancer detection through the Rotary Club of Porvorim's (RCP) Prakash Cancer Aid Project.
World-renowned runners like four-time Ironman triathlon completionist Corina Van Dam from the Netherlands, Ironman triathlon completionist and five-time Guinness world record holder Preeti Maske and double Guinness world record holder for fastest marathons in a sari and a traditional Welsh dress, Kranti Salvi, will be participating in the event this year.
“We are excited to announce that registrations have opened for the upcoming Rotary Rain Run Goa 2024. We can't wait to see everyone there! We hope first-time marathoners and experienced distance runners will sign up for this important charitable event,” said Avinash Singh Parmar, Chairman and Spokesperson of Rotary Rain Run Goa 2024.
The event will commence at the SAG Athletics Stadium, Bambolim, with a turn-around at the Miramar Circle for the 21 km run. The scenic course will run through the sea-facing roads of Bambolim and Dona Paula, giving runners a view of notable landmarks on their journey to the finish line.

Applications can be submitted across categories, namely the two-km fun walk, five-km dream run and 10 km and 21 km timed runs. This year, Rotary Rain is introducing a Seniority Walk of two km for the age category of 50 years and above facilitated by Manasum Luxury Senior Living.
The Rotary Rain Run Goa, launched in 2015, has grown exponentially from a local charity run to one of India’s largest monsoon marathons. Over the past decade, the funds raised through this event have been directed towards health campaigns and educational scholarships.
The event holds a membership in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and World Athletics, which are international athletic bodies.
