Goa U-25 team suffer their first defeat in the U-25 State A trophy against Rajasthan on Thursday.
The Goan team failed to chase down the 323 runs and handed Rajasthan a victory 103 runs via the VJD method.
In the first innings, Goa won the toss and invited Rajasthan to bat first. Goa bowler, S A Mishra, took the first Rajasthan wicket in the third over. He dismissed Bhavesh Lalchandani at the score of nine. Rajasthan lost their second opener in the next three overs as Heramb Parab dismissed BS Sharma for 10.
Struggling Rajasthan batting found a new life as DH Agarwal with Anshu Garhwal stitched up a gritty 87-run partnership. Goa retaliated as they dismissed the pair by the 26th over and took the fifth wicket in the 30th over. Back against the wall, YD Singh and SS Dhiwan scored 76 runs each and propelled the Rajasthan total to 323.
In the second innings, the Goa batting struggled from the get-go. They lost in-form opener Manthan Khutkar in 1.4 overs. Goa lost their second wicket in the ninth over. Their batting struggles continued as they lost two more wickets in the ten overs and scored only 38 runs. Captain Suyash Prabhudessai was the only Goan batter who survived in the middle. Whereas, the other batters fell like nine pins as Goa lost four more wickets in the ten overs.
Finally, the match ended due to rain in the 32nd over as Rajasthan was awarded a 103 run victory and four points by the VJD method. Goan Captain Suyash Prabhudessai scored an unbeaten 94 as Goa suffered its first defeat in the U-25 state A trophy.
