The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to hold a pre-season training camp for the Goa Under-19 men's and women's cricket teams in Pune.
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, no junior domestic cricket was played in the 2020-21 season. But this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to restart both men’s and women’s under 19 tournaments in the next few months.
The men’s U-19 league also referred to as the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (One Day) will start on 28 September 2021. The women’s U-19 One-day league will start on October 1 2021, and the T20 tournament will start on November 4, 2021. Both men’s and women’s teams will also play a one-day challenger trophy on November 3 and December 1 respectively.
Both the teams from Goa are currently practising in an indoor net in Porvorim. The men's under-19 team is being coached by Rajesh Kamat, while Anant Tambvekar is the coach of the women's team.
Goa's senior men's cricket team is currently training in Puducherry. This season, the senior team is scheduled to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 from October 27, the Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI from December 1 and the Ranji Trophy from January 5.
