A goal scored by Kingsley Fernandes in the last minute gave Churchill Brothers the lead over Real Kashmir in the I-League football match. Kingsley's goal helped the two-time title winners jump up to the sixth position on the league table. The match took place on Wednesday night at Naihati in West Bengal.
Churchill Brothers are now unbeaten in four matches. Yesterday's game is the fourth victory of the Goa team in the tournament and they have secured 14 points from 10 matches. Real Kashmir, who was also on an unbeaten streak after four draws and one win in the last five matches, saw their second defeat last night in the 2021-22 campaign. They stand at the eighth position on the league table.
Earlier in the match, Churchill Brothers had a great chance to take the lead in the 34th minute. However, Real Kashmir goalkeeper Bilal Khan showed great skill and stopped Bryce Miranda's shot. Real Kashmir could not take the lead as Tiago Adan's powerful shot hit the post in the 40th minute. With seven minutes left in the match, Bernard Yao had a chance to break the deadlock but missed an easy opportunity to leave Real Kashmir without a lead.

In other news in the tournament, Mohammedan Sporting Club maintained its lead on the league standings with a 2-1 win over Rajasthan United. The team has 22 points from 9 matches. Due to the defeat, Rajasthan United remain in 7th position with 13 points from nine matches. RoundGlass Punjab FC beat Indian Arrows 3-1. Punjab now has 17 points from 9 matches, while Indian Arrows stand in 11th position with six points.
