Goa's winning run ended on Sunday after they lost to Gujarat 1-0 in the Santosh Trophy.

The Goan team ended the Western Division Qualifiers with six points missing the next stage by a single point. While for Gujarat, a win was the only option for qualifying for the next round. The victory propelled Gujarat to the top of their group with seven points, confirming their qualification.

Goa's last Santosh Trophy triumph

Goa had last won the prestigious Santosh Trophy in 2008-09. They had reached the final at home in 2016-17 but had to settle for the runners-up spot after losing by one goal to Bengal. Overall, Goa has been part of 13 finals in the history of the tournament.
