Off-spinner Deep Kasvankar's incredible fifer helped Goa wrap up Maharashtra's first innings total of 287 on the first day of the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy on Monday at the Kholwad Gymkhana ground in Surat.
Deep took five wickets in 21 overs and gave up just 53 runs in his spell.
Electing to bat first winning the toss Maharashtra lost their openers just for 46 runs. Later, the S S Dhas and Digvijay Patil saved Maharashtra's innings, as they stitched up a massive 132-run partnership. Dhas scored a 114-run in 137 balls with 12 fours and six sixes, while Digvijay Patil scored 69 runs in 100 balls with 11 fours and two sixes. At lunch, Maharashtra was 165 for two.
But soon after the break, Maharashtra suffered a third blow. Sujay Naik dismissed Digvijay, breaking the mammoth partnership. After Digvijay's dismissal, Dhas shared another half-century partnership with Pawar as they added 65 runs for the fourth wicket.
