Chennaiyin FC has sacked their head coach Bozidar Bandovich after their 5-0 defeat against FC Goa.
The Super Machans under Bandovich played 16 matches — winning five, drawing four and losing seven games with 19 points.
"Chennaiyin FC and Bozidar Bandovic have mutually parted ways following their 0-5 loss defeat to FC Goa in the Indian Super League on Wednesday – the heaviest loss endured by the club in its history," said the statement by the club.
The assistant coach Syed Sabir Pasha will take over the team as the interim coach. Pasha has played for India from 1991 to 2007, making 68 appearances. He has also played for Indian Bank.
"Over the years, we’ve lost and won. But as a club, losing like this is something we cannot stand by and watch. And for now, we have full confidence in Sabir to see the season through," commented the Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani at the appointment of Sabir Pasha.
