Congress Minorities Cell Chairman Nazir Khan has slammed the installation of tin sheets at the roadside next to the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) in Vasco without considering the Mormugao municipality.

Speaking to media persons, Khan said: "Indian Oil Company has done illegal work on the Vasco IOC flyover, which falls under the National Highway, by putting tin sheets on one side of the flyover without the permission of Mormugao municipality".

This unnecessary blockage obstructs the view of commuters, which may lead to fatal accidents.

Nazir questioned "if these tin sheets had been installed due to some security reasons, then, for many years, there were fuel tanks present at the IOCL site in Vasco at that time, there were no such tin sheets erected. Why this is happening suddenly when some of its tanks have been shifted in Sancoale?"

Khan suggests to install compound walls and demands to remove the tin sheets for the commuters.

However, the Vasco Congress Board informed that the company has made a big mistake by not informing the Mayor of Mormugao Municipality. Although the Vasco flyover falls under the National Highways Authority (NHA), it is very important to get the permission of Mormugao Municipality

In this regard, Nandadeep Raut, Sajid Sheikh and Nazir Khan of Vasco Congress Board met Jayant Tari, Chief of Mormugao Municipality and demanded immediate attention. Chief Officer Tari informed that the concerned company will be called soon and the matter will be brought to light.
