A 45-year-old man's dead body was found with deep head injuries near the Ponda bus stand on Thursday morning.
According to police, the body was identified as Nandkumar Razak, a resident of Bihar. He used to work as a labourer and lived in a rented room at Warkhande in Ponda.
Razak's brother said his brother was an alcoholic and was married. His wife lives in their native villages.
Police said the victim might have been hit by a vehicle at night. The body has been sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for autopsy and reports are awaited.
Rajesh Naik, Bandora Sarpanch, said it could be a case of hit and run. "The body was found near the KTC bus stand route and Safa Masjid junction. Around 20 labours sit over there, which is also a highway. I request police to take action on it."
