Two shacks at Candolim were gutted in a fire on Saturday afternoon. While an investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the fire, the preliminary probe points at a short circuit.
According to the officials of the Pilerne Fire Station, the blaze erupted at the Sea Roch beach shack in Candolim. The firefighting operation was initiated as soon as the fire brigade personnel reached the spot.
The shack owner suffered a huge loss with elaborate decor, electrical fittings, music systems, furniture and other items were destroyed.
"The fire was brought under control by Rupesh Sawant of the Pilarna Fire Brigade and other firefighters," said Manuel Fernandez, President, All Goa Shake Owners Association,
Former Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said, "First of all thank God for the fact that there was no loss of life in this fire. I will do my best to help the affected shack owners and get the right financial help. Congratulations to the Pilerne Fire Brigade for bringing the fire under control on time.
