Bicholim MLA and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar on Monday 27, December inaugurated a 'City Livelihood Center' in Bicholim to help women become self-sufficient and self-reliant.
The center is first of its kind in the state and has been started under the G-Suda scheme.
Speaking at the event, Rajesh Patnekar said that he was satisfied that the Bicholim Municipality got the first honor for starting the center.
"Through this center women will get a platform and that women should take full advantage of it," Patnekar said after inaugurating the sale hall along with this center.
During the Inauguration, Mayor Kundan Falari, Head of Municipality Klein Madeira, Corporator Riaz Beg, Vijaykumar Natekar, Sudan Govekar, Nilesh Tople, Gunjan Korgaonkar, Adv. Aparna Fogueri, Adv. Ranjana Waingankar, Deepa Pal and Deepa Shirgaonkar along with 'Suda' project consultant Mrs. Selsa Anton and Vinci, Municipal Engineer Rajesh Phadte, Municipal Social Project Coordinator Aruna Parbwadkar were also present.
Selsa Anton said that women should come forward and take the benefits of the Government schemes which are put forward to them and should reap the benefits from it.
Klein Madeira praised the hardwork of the Municipality. The G-Suda has sanctioned assistance of Rs 10 lakhs for this center. Food and other items prepared by the ladies will be sold here that will make the women become self-sufficient and self-reliant.
