A youth died in a fatal road accident after a tempo rammed into his two-wheeler in Torxem, near Mumbai-Goa highway, in Pernem in the early hours of Thursday.
Police sources said that the victim was riding on his two-wheeler when he was hit by a tempo coming in from the opposite direction. The victim has been identified as Yogesh Parab (27) from Kudal of Sindhudurg district. The preliminary investigation revealed the accident occurred around 7.30 a.m near Pragati Women College of Education.
Meanwhile, the number of road accident fatalities are on the rise in Goa. Apart from two-wheelers, the number of accidents involving trucks and buses have also increased significantly.
According to Police, the major reasons behind the road accidents have been specified as rash driving, monsoon season, and bad condition of roads.
