In the face of ever-evolving cyber threats and digital challenges faced by students, the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights unveiled a specialised cybersecurity training programme aimed at enhancing the cyber safety skills of the former.
For this initiative, Goa SCPCR has collaborated with CyberPeace, which is supported by NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission and CISCO.
The training session, designed as a comprehensive one-day workshop for students in grades 8 through 12, aims to impart critical knowledge on cybersecurity basics, safe internet usage, and the nuances of social media literacy.
The programme will be conducted in five schools across Goa, including Ravindra Kelekar Dyanmandir, Margao; Our Lady of Fatima High School, Rivona; Our Lady Mother of Poor High School, Quepem; and St Francis Xavier High School, Korgao till February 22, 2024.
The initiative started at St Joseph Vaz High School, Sancoale, on February 20, 2024 in the presence of Peter F Borges, the Chairperson of Goa SCPCR, and Major Vineet Kumar, the Global President of CyberPeace.
Each school will see 100 students participating in engaging lessons delivered by trainers of CyberPeace, who will present real-life case studies and interactive activities.
A unique aspect of this initiative is the Digital Resource Hub, which will serve as a repository of learning materials to further aid the students' educational journey. The programme's impact and the students' grasp of the topics will be assessed through structured evaluations.
