PANAJI: The department of tourism will launch a mobile app soon to monitor illegalities on beaches across the State, informed Tourism Minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Ajgaonkar on Tuesday.
The app will be accessible through a login ID to the officials of the department, shack owners and police officials. If any illegalities are observed on the beaches, a picture will have to be posted on the app, following which the police officials will take strict action including imposing of fines and even imprisonment.
“I want all the beaches of Goa to be clean. My prime focus is on cleanliness. There should be no hawkers at the beaches. Nobody should drink and break liqour bottles or create nuisance on the beaches. We have already framed the required laws and they have to be implemented. For this, we will launch an app which will be released within a month’s time,” said Ajgaonkar. “While going back from Goa, tourists should take back positive and good experience with them,” he said.
Ajgaonkar said that they want to ban the hawkers from selling different items on the beaches and beggars who create nuisance for tourists. “The major responsibility to report illegalities on the beaches will be given to shack owners. They have to inform about any illegalities on the beaches through the app. We will take immediate action.
Additionally, deck beds are kept beyond the authorised number and also beyond the demarcated area. People should be able to move freely on the beaches,” he said.
