The recent fire at the Berger-Becker paint factory warehouse in the Pilerne Industrial Estate, North Goa, resulted in billowing smoke that could be seen from miles away.

The incident prompted the state government to issue an advisory urging people, residing within a 2 km radius of the factory, to shift to safer locations for a period of 24 hours if they suffer from asthma, chronic respiratory problems etc.

In view of the advisory, many residents of the area have chosen to move away from their homes for a few days. However, not all of them are in a financial position to stay in hotels, nor do they have relatives/friends generous enough to accommodate them till the situation tides over.

With all this in mind, Fr Maverick of Caritas Goa welcomes people from the vicinity of the industrial estate (and desirous of temporary accommodation) to stay at the Amor Holiday Home, free of cost, till Monday, January 16, 2023.

Amor Holiday Home, located in St Inez, Panjim, is a project of Caritas Goa and has decent rooms with beds and hot water. For more details, contact +91 89999 62123
