North Goa's Marna road that connects Mapusa to Siolim has developed several potholes and residents are miffed that that five-kilometre stretch has not been repaired for more than four years now.

Marna road is one of the busiest routes in North Goa as it connects Mapusa to tourist places such as Morjim, Madrem, Arambol. However, the road has become a nightmare for residents as well as tourists.

Anthony D’costa, a resident, said motorists are the most inconvenienced and ill-planned work amid pandemic has caused this trouble to everyone. “It has been around four years that we have not seen a proper road, it becomes difficult to ride as well as to even pass by on these roads. Imagine the state of an ambulance or even a pregnant lady passing by this road. We have complained to Panchayat several times, many assurances were given to us but nothing has been done yet," he said.

According to locals, the Water Resources Department did not restore roads after digging them up for the laying of drainage and Tilari water lines.

Another resident who uses this route frequently said, "I have been travelling through this route for more than ten years, but from past four years riding on this road has become nightmare experience. The road is filled with potholes and there is always a risk that you might get into an accident. During the nighttime, it is a tough to ride on these roads as well."
