President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, today, laid the foundation stone of the new Raj Bhavan in Goa.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai said “I am honoured to tell that the oldest and existing Raj Bhavan is declared a national monument. The Bhavan will be opened to the tourists. It is an auspicious moment in the history of Goa.”

"Though the monument is national monument people are not getting to see it as it is not easy for people to get in here," he added.

He further said that the construction of Raj Bhavans in other states is also going on and we with the cooperation from the Union Ministry will work towards building it.

Pillai who visited various places in Goa in the last 10 months said that there is scope for spiritual tourism in Goa.

Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant also spoke on the occasion. He said that as the Chief Minister he is working to make sure that the central government schemes reach to people. "Yesterday, the Central Government assured 10 lakh jobs and announced the Agneepath scheme. Similarly, awareness of around 90 schemes is being made among Goans. 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabhka Vishwas Aur Sabhka Prayas' is the new slogan for new India, said Sawant.
