Officials from various departments including Fire Brigade, Traffic Police, Power Department and Public Works Department along with the district collector inspected the Kadamba Bus stand on Monday.

The Kadamba bus stand, which was constructed 40 years ago, has been crying for the attention of the authorities for years now. No repair work has been taken at Bus stand in decades which has led to deteriorating infrastructure.

Heaps of garbage can also be seen in every corner of the bus stand. Hundreds of passengers board buses from here daily. A senior official in the Kadamba Corporation admitted that the bus stand is in a dilapidated state. He said besides the regular buses, private vehicles are also parked here causing congestion.

Speaking to the media persons, Goacan coordinator Roland Martins blamed the Kadamba Corporation management for the poor condition of the bus stand. He said: “There is no suitable place for senior citizens as well as persons with disabilities to come and go here.”

“The report of the inspection will soon be submitted to the monitoring committee headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police. The report will then be handed over to the state government and North Goa MP and Union Minister Shripad Naik,” he added.
