The National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) Goa activists on Wednesday met Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai to brief him about the alleged “malpractices and irregularities” in Goa University.
Speaking to media persons after meeting the Governor, NSUI Goa president Naushad Chaudary said that a scholar from the Department of Zoology in Goa university was terminated on wrong charges.
“Dikansh Parmar is a research student at Goa University who was working under a project in the Department of Zoology. He was appointed in 2020 and has done 5 research papers within a year, but the authorship of these papers was given to the wife of Nitin Sawant assistant professor from the Department of Zoology,” he said.
He further said that assistant professor Nitin Sawant’s wife has given the authorship rights of the paper written by Dikansh Parmar. “When he complained about the authorship to the authorities, he was terminated. We also discussed this with Vice-Chancellor and he had framed a one-member committee within the University and he has given a biased statement,” he added.
