PANAJI: After implementing pay parking across nine locations in the capital city, the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) is likely to take up pay parking at another two major locations - M G Road and Miramar.
Speaking to GT, CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar said, “This time we had decided to implement pay parking in phases. In the first phase, we have converted nine areas into pay parking and now we want to get few more areas under pay parking including the M G Road and Miramar area.”
Madkaikar informed that along with M G Road and Miramar areas, CCP is in the process of identifying another few areas that could be converted into pay parking zones. “This proposal will be put up before the next council meeting for approval,” informed Madkaikar.
He also said that that CCP has asked for house tax receipts of the residents of pay parking areas so that they can be issued free passes for parking.“Right now we have requested the contractor not to implement pay parking very strictly. But once we verify the house tax receipts and issue passes, he will start implementing pay parking strictly,” he said.
Madkaikar said that the contractor has also introduced pass system for the benefit of regular commuters. Two-wheelers would be charged Rs 175 per month, Rs 480 quarterly and Rs 1,800 yearly; while four-wheelers would be charged Rs 2,000 per month, Rs 5,250 quarterly and Rs 18,000 yearly. goa
