Nawab Sheikh, a young singer from Vasco, became the National Champion in the All India Level Singing Competition held at National Champion Gaikaridwar, Uttarakhand. He received the gold medal and citation of National Championship 2021-22.
In the National Championship Singing Competition held at Devpura in Haridwar, the final 53 singers from all over the country were selected through a preliminary round. There were 32 contestants in the age group of 18 to 24. Goa was represented by Nawab Sheikh, a talented singer from Goa.
The Preliminary Round of 2022 was organized by the Performing Arts Association of India and the South India Singing Championship Association in association with Panaji Samrat Club at Parwari. In this competition, Nawab Sheikh was selected for the national competition in the age group of 18 to 24 years. In the final round held at Haridwar, Nawab sang 'Kachche Dhaage' composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and sung by Sukhwinder Singh, 'Upar Khuda Asmaan Niche Jaho' and Harjit Singh from 'Ramlila', 'Yeh Lal Ishq'. Yeh Malal 'two songs.
Nawab has been taking classical music lessons for the last ten years from Sharad Mathkar, a music teacher at Headland-Sada. Nawab sings Lilya in Bhavgite, Bhakti songs as well as Abhang-Gaulnadi. He has previously won national level online competitions. This is his first victory in an offline national level singing competition.
