PANAJI: The M G Party on Wednesday demanded that the State government should immediately announce the reservation of wards for the March 15 Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections as the delay was causing difficulty in finalising the party candidates. Speaking to reporters, MGP president Deepak Dhavlikar said that the process of redrawing and reservation of ZP constituencies should be finalised atleast one-and-half month prior to elections. This will give adequate time to the political parties to finalise its candidates. He alleged that the State government was adopting delaying tactics in finalising the reservation of constituencies for its gain. The MGP had already announced that it will field candidates on party symbol for the ZP elections slated for March 15. The constituencies are to be reserved for women and candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities. Meanwhile, the party also constituted a five-member committee to draft the MGP new constitution. The committee comprises president Deepak Dhavlikar, working president Naresh Sawal, former working president Adv Narayan Sawant, vice president Ratnakant A Mardolkar and Adv Satyawan Palkar.
