The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan Margao celebrated the birth anniversary of late Joao Agostinho Fernandes, the Father of Tiatr, on December 14, 2022.
The portrait of Pai Tiatrist was garlanded by Menino Fernandes, the president of TAG.
Cake was also cut in celebration at the residence Pai Tiatrist with his granddaughter Sharmila Fernandes and great grandchildren, in presence of Menino Fernandes, Socorro Fernandes, the vice president of TAG, and Suresh Divkar, the member secretary of TAG.
Menino Fernandes, Socorro Fernandes and Suresh Divkar spoke on the occasion and thanked Joao Agostinho Fernandes for his contribution to tiatr. Poonam Budalkar, ACO of Ravindra Bhavan, also spoke on the occasion.
TAG presented Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Awards (commercial and non-commercial) to ten veteran tiatr artistes: Salvador Mascarenhas, Justiniano Fernandes, Antonio Silvestre Afonso, Mariano Piedade Fernandes, Ana Maria Apolonia Rebello e Da Cruz, Vincete Dias, Andre Mesquita, Boanerges F D’Melo Alvim, Joaquim Jose Fernandes and Reginaldo Nazareth, who have given their valuable contribution to the tiatr stage.
The awards were presented at a specially organised function at the Pai Tiatrist Auditorium, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Goa, at the hands of Churchill Alemao, the former chief minister of Goa, in presence of Menino Fernandes, Socorro Fernandes and Suresh Divkar Member.
Pai Tiatrist’s granddaughter Sharmila Fernandes was also present as a special invitee.
The special felicitation of John Claro Fernandes was held as he was conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
The function was compèred by well-known personality of the Konkanni stage Francis Fernandes and was coordinated Uprita Asolkar. It was followed by a musical show by Anthony San Fernandes and his troupe.
