Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), Goa’s largest hospitality company and leader in the tourism sector, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship on the occasion of Earth Day 2024.
Aligning with this year's theme of 'Planet vs Plastics', IHCL, Goa continues to carry forward its century-old legacy with its ESG+ framework of Paathya - driving positive change rooted in IHCL’s core values of trust, awareness and joy.
In an effort to safeguard the environment, IHCL, Goa has implemented various measures to phase out single-use plastic across its properties. Key initiatives include eliminating plastic straws with paper and bamboo straws, replacing plastic-wrapped bathroom amenities and room keys with eco-friendly alternatives and introducing bottling plants to substitute plastic water bottles with reusable glass ones, bottled with treated water.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Phillipose, Senior Vice President - Operations, Goa for IHCL, said, “The travel and tourism sector plays a vital role in advancing sustainable goals while protecting communities, ecosystems and cultural heritage. IHCL in Goa consistently strives for responsible tourism practices whereby we are constantly innovating to adopt best practices that could become industry benchmarks for the state.
