Goa recorded 1,794 new Covid-19 infections and eight deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours, said the health bulletin on Tuesday.

The daily positivity rate has come under 30 per cent to 29.91 per cent.

There were 2,522 recoveries as the recovery rate jumped to 90.62 per cent while the active caseload also recorded a dip. On Tuesday, Goa has 18,197 active cases.

Daily hospitalizations were relatively higher at 106 which is the highest count in the third wave of the pandemic. As many as 55 people were discharged from the hospital.

As many as 5597 tests were carried out across Goa on Tuesday.

The overall infection tally and the death toll of the Goa now stand at 2,32,619 and 3,623 respectively.

Meanwhile, Goa health services will start vaccinating children in the age group of 15 and 18 with the second dose from January 31. About 80 % of eligible children have been vaccinated with the first dose.
