The Goa Sports Foundation has demanded that the government should open all the grounds in the state to school students and sports associations.

"Due to the closure of the ground, there are restrictions on the training and practice of the players," said  Lisio Roncon, secretary of the foundation,

He also stated that the grounds should be named after famous Goan athletes.

The state government has spent Rs 300 crore to provide sports facilities in the state. Roncon said the foundation wants the facility to be used only for athletes in the state.

"A special plan has been drawn up for the use of the ground in Delhi and the players are taking advantage of it. A similar scheme should be started first for Bambolim Athletic Stadium and then for grounds in other cities", said Roque Dias, president of the foundation and former executive director of the Sports Authority of India.

He demanded that the government should open the grounds to all athletes.  Dr  Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium should be made available to players in sports like volleyball, chess, basketball.

Dias suggested that players would have the opportunity to practice at least 40 days before the national tournament.  The foundation wants Union Minister of State Shripad Naik, who is also the president of the Goa Olympic Association, to take the initiative.
