Goa sees less than 100 new Covid cases, 15 more deaths

The number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Goa fell below 1000 as the coastal state on Thursday reported 955 new Covid infections. This is the first time the new Covid cases has been reported below the 100-mark in the ongoing wave.

At the same, Goa recorded its highest single-day rise in deaths related to Covid-19 as the state reported 15 Covid fatalities in the last 24 hours. One person died at home while died within 24 hours of the hospitalisation. Among the death, ten people were unvaccinated.

With 3402 samples tested on Thursday, the daily positivity rate has dropped to 28.07 per cent.

There were 3,390 recoveries as the recovery rate jumped to 92.80 per cent while the active caseload also recorded a dip. On Thursday, Goa has 13269 active cases so far.

Daily hospitalizations were relatively low at 71. As many as 41 people were discharged from the hospital.

The overall infection tally and the death toll of Goa now stand at 235039 and 3,645 respectively.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation officer Dr Rajendra Borkar said Around 75.25 per cent of the 2,724 Covid-19 patients in the second wave and 53 per cent of the 91 patients who succumbed during the ongoing third wave in goa had not even taken a single dose of vaccine.
