Goa logs 2,476 new Covid cases, highest in eight months. Positivity rate at 30.37%

Goa reported a massive spike in the number of new cases of Covid on Tuesday, January 11. The coastal state recorded 2,476 new cases of Covid-19, highest in eight months.

The positivity rate rose to 30.37 per cent which was 24.7 per cent on Monday while a total active caseload has crossed the 12,000 mark.

With three deaths, the Covid mortality count has jumped to 3,537 in the last 24 hours.

Panaji and Margao are witnessing the highest number of active cases. Vasco, Ponda and Porvorim have also seen a big rise in active caseload.

Goa Deputy Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has tested positive. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Dona Paula.

In the last few days, several doctors, nurses and paramedics have also tested positive.
