Former Sarpanch of Panchwadi Panchayat and current Panch Vishant Gaonkar has been appointed as the group president of Goa Forward Party for Shiroda constituency, informed Goa Forward party's organizing secretary Durgadas Kamat.

He said that the work of the party has been started expeditiously in the last few days as per the orders given by the President to expand the party in Goa. He was accompanied by party leader Akbar Mulla.

Attack the BJP government over its free water scheme, Kamat said that the promise of free water up to 16,000 litres is misleading. “Although the government has zero water bill up to 16,000 litres, it has increased the bill per cubic meter thereafter. So now people know that there is no such thing as free,” he said.

On being asked about the Party alliance with Congress, Kamat said President Vijay Sardesai will decide on the alliance talks for the upcoming elections, saying that negotiations are underway.

He also stated that a timely decision on the Kala Akademi scam would be sought in court.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Shiroda group president Vishant Gavkar said the group committee would be selected in the coming days.

Crediting the Goa Forward party for development work in Pachwadi panchayat, Gaonkar said, “after joining Goa Forward from 2017, we were elected to Panchwadi Panchayat and after becoming Sarpanch, many development works were done in Panchwadi Panchayat with the help of this party.”
