Fireworks will illuminate the night sky as Goa is set to celebrate the historic consecration ceremony and, 'Pran Pratishtha' of Sri Ram Temple, Ayodhya, on January 22, 2024, from 6 pm onwards at the Housing Board Plot, Next to SCERT Building, Service Road, Alto-Porvorim.

Today, January 20, 2024, as a precursor to this main event, the Department of Tourism will hold an illumination launch at 6.30 pm at Sangolda junction, Porvorim.

Minister for Tourism, Rohan Khaunte and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sadanand Shet Tanwade will be present on the occasion.

The main programme on January 22 will begin at 6.30 pm with around 150 students chanting shlokas, and Ram stotras, and performing aarti similar to the Ganga Aarti.

A special Dindi performance has also been planned to create a memorable cultural experience.

It will continue with Bhajan Sandhya to create a spiritual environment before transitioning to Sayam Prarthana, a collective recitation of stotras. Following these spiritual moments, classical dances based on the Ramayana theme will take the stage, highlighting the rich cultural heritage.

The celebrations will continue with a Dindi performance by Shri Ram Gajar, the illumination of 1000 'Diyas' by devotees, and the lighting of 150 divajas in traditional attire. The event is being held to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to the nation to celebrate the occasion like Diwali.

The ceremony will culminate with the Maha Aarti, followed by an offering of prasad.

The Goa Department of Tourism has extended a warm invitation to the public for the illumination launch today, January 20, at the hands of Tourism Minister Rohan A Khaunte and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sadanand Shet Tanavade.

The event on January 22 will see the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who will be the chief Guest. Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways & Tourism, Government of India Shripad Naik and the Tourism Minister will also be present.
