In a shocking incident at Maddi Talop, Loliem, Canacona, a middle-aged man was stabbed multiple times by his enraged nephew with regard to some family issue. This incident took place on Sunday, early morning. The accused tried to escape by crossing the Goa border but was nabbed by Goa Police at the Goa border.
Speaking to the Gomantak Times, Canacona Police Inspector Chandrahas Gawas informed that this incident took place on Sunday, November 20, at around 7 am. A person named Janu Sonu Kharat (42) resident of Maddi Talop, Loliem, was allegedly stabbed four times in his abdomen with a sharp knife by his nephew Ajay Kharat (25).
PI Gawas further added that the backstory of this matter was that the father of the arrested boy is an alcoholic and the family of the arrested boy would not allow this man to stay at home when he was drunk. The drunkard then would go to his brother (Janu) who was residing in his neighbourhood and sleep there.
On Saturday night, a similar incident took place, wherein Ajay Kharat’s father was not allowed in his own house due to his alcohol consumption, so he went to Janu's house and stayed there overnight. Janu then decided to sort out this problem once and for all by discussing this matter with his brother's family.
PI Gawas’ investigation has revealed that when Janu went to Ajay's house and tried to discuss this matter with the family members of Ajay, Ajay became annoyed. The discussion turned into a heated argument in which Ajay Kharat out of anger reportedly stabbed his uncle, Janu, in the abdomen four times and tried to escape the site on his scooter.
The Canacona police caught Ajay at the Polem border. Canacona police have seized the two-wheeler and the murder weapon used in this crime. Janu was shifted to Canacona Health Centre where he was declared "brought dead". Ajay Kharat has been arrested and further investigation is being conducted, PI Gawas added.
