Domestic cruise ship 'MV Cordelia Empress' arrived on the eve of World Tourism Day at the port of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) on Sunday, marking the commencement of Cruise tourism season in Goa after a long pandemic break
The ship brought around 1500 passengers and 600 crew members on its maiden visit and left for Mumbai in the evening with 75 new cruise passengers from Goa.
MPT deputy chairman GP Rai along with other officials of the JM Baxi Shipping Agency were present to welcome the ship to the cruise berth
This is the first commercial cruise ship to arrive at the shores of Goa after a long pandemic break. The cruise services were shut since March 2020, leading to a huge financial impact on maritime tourism season in the coastal state.
MPT cruise terminal, which was completely deserted for more than 18 months, saw the heavy movement of taxi drivers and bus operators on Sunday.
