The Sonali Phogat murder case will be handed over to the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday.
The CM will be officially writing to the Home Minister about handing over the case to CBI as per repeated pleas made by her daughter and family members.
CM Sawant told a section of the media that the sensational case, which is presently being investigated by the Goa police, will be handed over to the CBI immediately.
Sawant, however, said, "Goa police are on the right track in the case as they have got clues, but since her (Sonali Phogat) family and daughter have been continuously demanding a CBI probe, we have decided to do so."
Goa police have been investigating the case in all possible angles and have gathered vital clues.
Phogat was in Goa and was partying with her two friends at the popular beach shack Curlies in Anjuna, a major part of which has been demolished.
After Phogat's death, Curlies came under the scanner of the police and government machinery.
