Bank of India in Panaji shut as staff test positive for Covid

The Bank of India had to shut its Campal branch in Panaji on Tuesday, Janaury 4, after a few of the staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

A notice put up outside the branch read that the branch would remain closed considering the safety of the customers.

"As some of our staff members of Cmapal Panaji branch are tested positive for Covid-19, as a precautionary measure, the branch is temporarily closed till further instruction considering the safety of our customers and staff members. This has also been brought to the notice of Panaji Municipal Corporation/Panchayat Office," a notice outside the gates of the bank read.

Sources said that office has been closed to sanitise the building. However, there was still a queue of people outside the office. Some staff members told Gomantak Times that the building remained closed for a few days last week too.

"Digital world is not for everyone that why we are standing outside for physical money. If lockdown comes in tomorrow, everyone will need hard cash. Now this bank is closed and we have to suffer because of it," a customer, Rajesh Kumar, told Gomantak Times.
