Transport and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Thursday, December 16, said that with Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha leaving the BJP, it was now easier for the BJP to win all 4 seats in Mormugao Taluka.
Speaking to media persons after inaugurating the Mormugao Panchayat Mahotsav Festival 2021, Godinho said he had worked overtime to get Alina elected in the assembly.
"I have nothing much to comment and everyone has got individual freedom to migrate anywhere else. The matter of making statements and allegations when you are already quitting holds no value. In fact, we are more sure of getting all 4 seats now and I can say with emphasis because I had a difficult time getting her elected from Cortalim and the entire Sancoale knows how much I worked overtime for her victory. The candidate selection is the job of the party and getting them elected is my job," said Godinho
Talking about Mormugao Panchayat Mahotsav Festival 2021, a first of its kind initiative, where 10 Panchayats of Mormugao Taluka will join hands to organise various social and cultural programs to commemorate the 60th year of Goa Liberation Day, Godinho said that all Panchayats in Goa would be having programs to commemorate the 60th Year of Goa Liberation and funds were also provided for the program
"The festival will display and sell different items by the Mahilas and the self-help groups. I am glad that all the ten panchayats of Mormugao Taluka have joined hands for a two days festival at Chicalim Panchayat and the people from all ten panchayats will have stalls, engage in various social and cultural programs and also sell traditional homemade Christmas sweets and pickles," he said.
"This program is to encourage people and also display the achievement of the panchayats towards the state. Many TPT plants are set up or are on the way to being set up in different areas of Mormugao Taluka, Sanguem, Sanvordem, Old Goa, Agonda and even Painguinim," he added.
