A day after Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijay Sardesai called for unity among opposition parties to defeat BJP, TMC Goa Election in charge Mahua Moitra hinted at a possible alliance with Congress and GFP ahead of Goa Assembly elections, saying that TMC will do " everything possible to defeat BJP".
"Rest assured, we the AITC will do everything possible to defeat BJP in Goa- @Goaforwardparty, @INCGoa @AITC4Goa and #MGP. @Mamataofficial has done it in past & will not shy away from walking the extra mile in Goa too," TMC MP tweeted on Friday.
On Thursday, Sardesai urged the Congress, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) to should join hands as part of a broad coalition to take on the ruling BJP keeping aside their egos.
He said BJP might try to "play dirty" with other parties during campaigning in the name of COVID-19 restrictions.
Sardesai's GFP has already announced a pre-poll tie-up with the Congress, while the MGP and the TMC have formed their own alliance for elections to the 40-member assembly.
The election to the 40-member Goa assembly is due month. The poll schedule is yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
