Revolutionary Goans (RG) on Sunday announced that it will contest the upcoming assembly elections under the Goa Su-Raj Party banner.
Speaking to the supporters at the party's event at Azad Maidan in Panjim, RG's founder, Manoj Parab, said, "Revolutionary Goans will run for office under the banner Goa Su-Raj. This is not a seat-sharing arrangement or a compromise or setting. We, the Revolutionary Goans, will continue to be known as RG, but because we need a political party and a single symbol to run for office, we have chosen the Goa Su-Raj party".
Parab also mentioned that RG will run candidates in all forty constituencies, without forming any alliance with any other political party.
In February 2021, Revolutionary Goans applied to the Election Commission to be registered as a political party. However, he claims that the registration processes were not completed even after 7 months of filing the application with the chief electoral officer in New Delhi.
Viresh Borkar, a revolutionary Goan leader, stated that this election would be a war for survival and identity. "It is past time for Goa to be rid of the numerous political parties that have dominated the state since independence," he said.
To officially mark the passing over of the party symbol to RG, Goa Su-Raj Party founder President Floriano Lobo handed over the burning torch baton to Manoj Parab.
Despite thunderstorm and rains, the event also marked a massive show of strength for the party.
