Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are likely to hold a series of meeting of meetings and hit the campaign trail for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections from January 28.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP election office, state BJP President Sadanand Tanavade said Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah Ji will participate in the ongoing assembly poll campaign of the party from January 28 in Goa following all the guidelines and standard operating procedures as issued by the Election commission in the view of Covid-19 pandemic.
"The leader will participate in meetings, dialogues and voter contact programmes," Tanavade said.
BJP national leaders including Nitin Gadkari, national party president JP Nadda, Smiriti Irani, Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis, Goa Desk in charge CT Ravi, co-in charge G Kishen Reddy and Darshana Jardosh will participate in the party's election campaign in Goa.
He stated that 34 candidates announced by the party in the first list of candidates have already begun the campaign and are conducting a door-to-door campaign, following all the guidelines by the election commission.
Tanavade further said the party will release its manifesto for the Goa assembly elections during the same period. "We are certain to get absolute majority. BJP is the only party that gave stability in Goa and ensured human and infrastructural development during the last one decade," he claimed.
Taking a dig at Congress party for making its candidates take a pledge before God as regards not defect from the party after polls, Tanavade said, "This shows that the Congress has no faith in its candidates than how would the people have faith in the party."
In the 2017 Assembly polls, Congress had won 17 seats in the tiny coastal state to emerge as the single largest party. However, the BJP, which was in second place in terms of seats, quickly stitched an alliance with MGP, Goa Forward and Independent MLAs to form its government in Goa. However, later on, two MLAs from the MGP joined BJP.
The election for the 40 seats will take place on February 14, and the ballots will be counted on March 10.
