Science and Technology Minister Michael Lobo has tendered his resignation as a minister in Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led BJP government as well as Calangute MLA on Monday morning. He is all set to join Congress later in the evening.
"Today I have resigned as minister in this cabinet. Election Commission has already declared it as the model code of conduct. I am quite sure people of the Calangute constituency will respect my decision. They will give me another opportunity to serve them back. I will also resign as an MLA. I am in talks with other political parties," Lobo sa aid
"It has been quite a good long 15 years journey with BJP but I am quite upset with the way we are looked at, especially workers," he added.
Lobo, who has been critical of the BJP in the last two months, launched the election campaign of his acolyte Kedar Naik in Saligao on Sunday, who is expected to be fielded in the seat by the Congress.
He also took part in door-to-door campaigning with Naik and party workers. “We shouldn’t see anything else. We all have to back one party. There should not be any split or division of votes. One party has to be elected and the party should have a clear mandate,” Lobo told reporters.
Earlier, he took another jab at BJP and said that the leaders of BJP had grown so tall and one had to crane their neck to face them.
