Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MGP) on Monday, December 6, has given its nod to enter into a pre-poll alliance with Trinamool Congress for the Goa Assembly election next year.
MGP president Pandurang 'Deepak' Dhavalikar announced the decision, saying that both the parties have joined hands to give good governance to the people of Goa.
"There is a wave against BJP. People want a change and we will be able to form the government in the state," Dhavlikar, adding that MGP central committee has unanimously decided to forge a pre-poll alliance with TMC
MGP, which had won 3 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections, have sought 12 seats from TMC and details of the chief ministerial candidate would be worked out later.
"TMC has agreed on in-principle for 12 seats and if all conditions are agreed during Mamata Banerjee visit on December 13, we might announce the alliance together," Dhavalikar said.
Deepak Dhavalikar further said that an impression was being created that MGP has no option other than BJP to form an alliance. "We have always criticised BJP. We were in talks with all parties including Congress, AAP and TMC except BJP," he said.
Meanwhile, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Goa on December 13. TMC supremo's nephew and party MP Abhishek Banerjee would accompany her.
