Goa Forward Party's (GFP) Working President Kiran Kandolkar on Saturday resigned from the party ahead of Goa assembly elections, slated to be held early next year.

Kandolkar, a former BJP MLA who joined the party last year, said that he left Goa Forward as the party was forming an alliance with the Congress party. "Defeat of BJP in Goa is my only goal and Congress would not be able to defeat BJP," he said.

He also said that he is not against Sardessai as he has learnt lot of things from him.

He further said that Congress will ditch the party last minute. "My party workers want me to fight this election as an independent. I will contest from either the Independent or any other party," he said.

According to sources, Kandolkar is planning to join Trinamool Congress and fight the upcoming elections from Aldona seat.
