GFP fields Deepak Kalangutkar from Mandrem in Goa Polls

Earlier, GFP had announced the names of two candidates for Fatorda and Mayem constituencies. Vijai Sardesai will contest from Fatorda while Santosh Kumar Sawant is the party's candidate from Mayem.

The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has fielded Deepak Bhalchandra Kalangutkar from Mandrem constituency in North Goa district to contest next month's Goa Assembly elections.

On Wednesday, Congress allotted Mandrem constituency to the GFP under pre-poll alliance deal. The GFP was earlier allotted two seats - Mayem and Fatorda.

GFP made the announcement through its official twitter handle on Tuesday. "A true son of the soil, @Deepak4Mandrem will be the honest, efficient, approachable representative for the proud #Goemkars of #Mandrem. The face of the youth! Face of development and progress. No more betrayals, incompetence and arrogance of @BJP4Goa! #LiberateGoa!#ChalYaFuddem!"

GFP president Vijai Sardesai expressed confidence that GFP will capture the seat from BJP and said Kalangutkar is getting spontaneous response from the people in Mandrem.

Earlier, GFP had announced the names of two candidates for Fatorda and Mayem constituencies. Vijai Sardesai will contest from Fatorda while Santosh Kumar Sawant is the party's candidate from Mayem.

Out of 40 constituencies, the Congress has announced candidates for 37 seats and GFP has fielded candidates in three constituency. The election for the 40 seats will take place on February 14, and the ballots will be counted on March 10.
