The Congress released a list of five more candidates for the next month's Goa Assembly elections on Thursday night, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released its first list of four candidates for the February 14 polls.

The Congress has fielded the former convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Goa unit, Elvis Gomes, as the party's candidate in Panaji, while former BJP MLA Carlos Almeida will be contesting from the Vasco Assembly constituency in South Goa.

Among other names that the party has declared in the sixth list - Tukaram Borkar, Antony Dias and Amit Patkar - all fresh faces, have be fielded from Shiroda, Benaulim and Curchorem, respectively.

The fifth list has five candidates and with this, the Congress party has announced candidates for 37 of the 40 seats while Alloted three seats to alliance partner Goa Forward Party.

On Thursday, Congress had issued fifth list announcing five names of candidates for next month's Goa Assembly elections.

On Tuesday, Congress had issued its third and fourth list announcing 11 names of candidates for next month's Goa Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, The NCP list included the party's state unit chief Jose Philip, who would contest from Dabolim. Besides, Rehan Mujawar, Digvijay Verlekar and Subhash Prabhu Desai have been fielded from Navelim, Priol and Shiroda, respectively.

While the Congress has tied up with the Goa Forward Party for the upcoming polls, the NCP is in alliance with the Shiv Sena.

In the 2017 Assembly polls, Congress had won 17 seats in the tiny coastal state to emerge as the single largest party. However, the BJP, which was in second place in terms of seats, quickly stitched an alliance with smaller parties and Independent MLAs to form its government in Goa.

The election for the 40 seats will take place on February 14, and the ballots will be counted on March 10.
