The Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Congress have struck alliance on Tuesday, November 30, ahead of the Goa elections in 2022.
GFP president Vijai Sardesai took to Twitter to confirm that his party has confirmed the alliance with Congress.
Sardesai met Rahul Gandhi along with Congress leader Digambar Kamat and Dinesh Gundu Rao to finalise the alliance. Sioliom MLA and GFP leader Vinod Palyekar were also present in the meeting.
Independent MLA from Sangue Prasad Gaonkar was also present in the meeting.
Earlier, AICC in-charge for Goa Dinesh Gundu Rao had said that there was a needs to be an “alignment” with another party before a pre-poll alliance for the assembly elections. Talks between GFP and the Congress have been going on for months.
