Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has won the election from Sanquelim Assembly constituency by a slim margin on Thursday.
Expressing condifence that the BJP will form government in Goa, Sawant said, "Its victory of my voters and I will introspect why my lead was reduced."
Sawant was trailing in the first three rounds of counting and managed to retain Sanquelim seat by margin of 1,000 votes. In the 2017 Assembly polls, Sawant had won by a margin of over 2,000 votes.
He further said, "We will win more than 20 seats. If the numbers are required, there are independents and the MGP, which is in touch with us,"
As per the latest trends, BJP has won/leading in 20 seats, ,the Congress was leading in 11, while the MGP and AAP were ahead in three seats each. Three Independents candidates have won while Revolutionary Goans and Goa Forward Party one seat each.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's wife Sulakshana Sawant and BJP women's wing state president said former Goa Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar must be up there smiling at how the BJP workers strived to ensure party majority in Goa.
"In 2012, the BJP got a full majority government. We see the same picture in 2022. I feel Bhai (Parrikar) up there would be happy to see how well all party workers worked together for this victory," Sawant told reporters.
