Goa Pradesh Congress group President Imran Sheikh said that about 80 members from the Vasco Congress group have resigned ahead of 2022 Goa Assembly Elections.
The former leader claimed that Goa Congress Pradesh Committee President Girish Chodankar is taking all decisions without consulting members of the Vasco Congress Group.
"Goa Pradesh Congress State President Girish Chodankar has been taking many decisions unilaterally for the past three years without paying attention to the Vasco Congress. About 80 members have resigned from the Vasco Congress Group," Sheikh told reporters.
Imran Sheikh further said that Girish Chodankar was doing injustice by taking decisions in party without trusting the Vasco Congress group.
Hussain Sheikh who is a former Seva Dal member of the Vasco Congress faction said that, "I met the Goa Congress President Chodankar and informed him about the matters, however he announced three names for the Vasco da Gama assembly elections. We are already facing huge crisis due to former MLA Carlos Almeida, former mayor Nandadeep Raut and Goa Congress general secretary Saifullah Khan."
Hussain said that he had agreed with Chodankar on all the three possible candidates in Vasco and had also demanded that they be given one candidate but "Chodankar did not our his view seriously.
"We have been serving the Congress party in Vasco for the last ten years and despite various agitations against the state government, the Congress has made serious allegations against us," he said.
Former Seva Dal chief Hussain Sheikh, Manjrekar, Sunita Patil and other former office bearers were also present at the press conference held in Vasco.
