PANAJI: Legal services startup firm from Rachel, South Goa ‘The Legal Capsule’ has been shortlisted as the ‘most innovative and high potential startup’ by international software giant Microsoft under its initiative ‘Highway to a Hundred Unicorns’. Interestingly, Legal Capsule is the only woman founded the startup in India selected for this programme.
According to a press statement, the top tech startups selected through ‘Emerge-X’, a competition for startups win Azure credits along with a host of business and tech benefits. The competition is said to have received over 530 applications. The top three startups from each State will gain access to a year-long mentorship programme and a two-day founder Bootcamp.
Highway to a Hundred Unicorns, the Microsoft for Startups initiative, works closely with local governments to strengthen the startup ecosystem in each State. “I am feeling on top of the world. It’s a moment of pride for me and my State. I dedicate this achievement to my entire team. It is a major boost for us to do better and grow bigger,” founder of the firm Gautami Raiker reacted.
On the future roadmap following this selection, she said, “Microsoft is essentially going to help the company build a strong product and expand globally. I also thank the Government of Goa for the constant support.”
Raiker has pursued her Master of Law in Intellectual property law from Goa University and also Accredited Mediator at Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation. Along with Legal Capsule, she is also the founder of another legal tech startup Lawmate.in. She has set up a Common Service Centre in her village Rachel.
“Living in Rachel village, I had experienced big difficulty in getting simple documentation done or even visiting government departments for schemes, forms, etc. One needs to commute to the city for all this work as being in the village. You do not receive facilities as how you would receive living in a municipal area. Hence a thought came as to if there is any way the processes can be done easily. My startups are dedicated to simplifying the lives of people,” she added.
